Insertion: Teres minor tuberosity of humerus (proximal to deltoid tuberosity)

Function: Flexes shoulder joint and laterally rotates humerus.
📚 DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
THE ROTATOR CUFF ASSISTANT

A small muscle located deep to the deltoid and lateral head of the triceps, part of the functional 'rotator cuff' analog in cattle.

PRECISE LOCATION: Originates from the distal third of the caudal scapular border (caudal angle region), threading deep between larger lateral muscles.

FUNCTIONAL MECHANICS: Flexes the shoulder joint and laterally rotates the humerus. This rotation is subtle in cattle due to fused elbow joints but assists in positioning the hoof during landing.

DOG More significant for shoulder rotation; larger relative size.
HORSE Similar small size; often fused with infraspinatus fascia in part.
